Crypto Research CEO Resigns After Being Robbed at Gunpoint

Adding to the severity of the situation, Drakon disclosed that the criminals also threatened his family, including his wife and eight-month-old son.

Nick Drakon, the CEO of the cryptocurrency research and education platform Revelo Intel, has resigned from his position following a traumatic incident where he was robbed at gunpoint. Drakon announced his resignation in a post on the social platform X on September 5, detailing the harrowing experience that led to the loss of personal and company assets.

“I was recently targeted, surveilled and robbed by a highly sophisticated group,” Drakon revealed in his post. “The group was specifically interested in crypto assets and knew the deposit addresses belonging to the crypto businesses I operate. I was forced, at gunpoint, to log into a number of crypto accounts and transfer funds out.” During the robbery, not only were Drakon’s personal funds taken, but also the working capital of Revelo and funds from Revelo Ventures, the company’s investment arm.

Adding to the severity of the situation, Drakon disclosed that the criminals also threatened his family, including his wife and eight-month-old son. He mentioned there is “some evidence” that individuals from within Revelo Ventures may have been involved in the robbery. Drakon has chosen to withhold further details to avoid jeopardizing the ongoing investigation and to protect his family from additional risks.

In the wake of this incident, Vu Benson, previously the chief operating officer, has been appointed as the new CEO of Revelo Intel. As part of the recovery plan, Drakon has decided to relinquish his interest in the company. This move is intended to facilitate some reimbursement to the members of Revelo Ventures. Furthermore, 30% of the company’s future profits will be allocated to those affected by the theft.

Drakon also expressed remorse over the situation, acknowledging his own vulnerabilities that may have made him a target: “I made severe mistakes that made me a target and apologized to Revelo Ventures members who lost money from the robbery.”
